Listening to Dario Marianelli's score for "The Brave One," I still haven't changed my opinion about how conservative those musical choices were for a film as bold as "The Brave One."
I wanted to hear something more along the lines of what Howard Shore did for "Crash. (1997)" With dissonant guitars and NOISE.
I guess I've read too many of Jodie's interviews where she seems insulted about the approach of too much tenderness just because it's a female character's story (her comments were not about TBO)... The piano music is hauntingly beautiful, but the storm that rages in Erica Bain has no musical voice in this film.
I bought the soundtrack, as I have with just about every other JF movie. It is gorgeous music that can even stand on its own.... But it ain't rough enough for the rest of the picture.
Maybe I'll just stay at home from work one week, and use my MacBook Pro apps, and rescore it, myself.

It is so damn hot in Tennessee.... Did we ever even have a winter????
Maybe she should get Wendy and Lisa to score a film for her. THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC.
