Yes, and then we could arrange a time (who fits for everybody) to "meet" and chat about our beloved Jodie, her work and other stuff...

See you later, alligator; after a while, crocodile!
It's that time of the year again, when The Great White Way is calling.
I'll be on the lookout for Erica Bain... as you know, she walks the city.
Good luck, Claudia! We will wait your detailed trip report.

First day and a quick hello from NYC (internet cafe). It's indeed quite hot here. Well, I experienced it before when I was here in June as well. You just have to drink a lot of water.
I'm looking forward to see some good plays and one musical, and of course "walk the city" and check out the different areas in Manhattan.
See you later.

Hello again! It's great as always here in NYC but also exhausting. This city really never sleeps, but I sleep like a baby here. To be honest, I could never live in a city like this... no wonder, I live in a small town with 9500 people, surrounded by mountains.
But I just always love visiting New York for usually about a week and I'm a big fan of the theater here.
So far I saw Christopher Walken in "A Behanding in Spokane", Billy Crudup in "The Metal Children" (Off-Broadway) and Anthony LaPaglia and Tony Shalhoub (from "Monk") in "Lend Me A Tenor".
Chistopher Walken was just awesome and he is so extremely charismatic. I always knew what an amazing actor he was, but now he really got a new fan in me.
Billy Crudup was great as always. I saw him before on stage (2007 in the trilogy "The Coast of Utopia").
LaPaglia and Shalhoub were just hilarious in their play.
Verdict (so far):
Favorite actor... Christopher Walken
Favorite play... The Metal Children
Coming up... Alfred Molina in "Red" (that's the play Jodie Foster saw... see sightings) and the one and only Denzel Washington in "Fences" plus the musical "Promises, Promises".

Back at my beloved internet cafe at 49th Street (just next to the Eugene O'Neill theater, where I saw my other fave actress Mary Stuart Masterson in "Nine - The Musical" in 2003).
I'll be home on Saturday morning and I can post a few pics then if you want.
Ok, I saw "Red" last night with Alfred Molina. It was a fantastic play (with only two actors) that has 7 Tony Award nominations. Since I got my ticket already in March, lucky me was sitting in the first row at the aisle.
It was a great and interesting dialogue between Molina and the young actor (Eddie Redmayne) and surprisingly I understood it very well.
Molina played the Abstract Expressionist painter Mark Rothko.
When I read Molina's little bio in the Playbill (the magazine you usually get about the play/musical) I realized [again] that he was also in "Maverick". I have totally forgotten about him being in this movie with Jodie and Mel until yesterday at the play.
Now I really have to say that "Red" is my favorite play so far.

Ok, I guess I also have to say something about Denzel Washington's play "Fences". It was wonderful! He was so good in it and so was Viola Davis ("Doubt") who played his wife. I also really liked the stage setting of "Fences" a lot. I didn't understand all of the dialogues that good, because of the accents. The play took place in Pittsburgh.
There really are some Hollywood actors who are able to do stage work as well. It was not the first time he was on Broadway. He did theater before. A lot of actors did theater before they became famous as movie stars and they still like to do it. It's always a pleasure and very interesting to see them do live theater.
My prediction for "Best Actor" in a play at the Tony Awards tonight would be Alfred Molina. Although his category is really tough: Jude Law, Christopher Walken, Denzel Washington and Liev Schreiber.
Viola Davis could get the "Best Actress" in a play Tony Award. Except for Laura Linney, I haven't heard of the three other female nominees.
The best play is really difficult to predict. I'd say it's between "Red" and "Fences".
Oh, and I also saw the musical "Promises, Promises" with Sean Hayes ("Will & Grace"), Kristin Chenoweth and Tony Goldwyn. It was funny and sweet and who says a gay man can't play straight...? (There was recently a big story [from a journalist] on the internet about Sean Hayes playing a straight character on stage, resp. that he is not convincing at all, etc. etc... and co-star Kristin Chenoweth defended Hayes on her website because of that "negative" article).
Sean Hayes was hilarious and who cares that his straight man is a bit over the top... hey, this is a musical where everything is a bit over the top and exaggerated. Musicals have to be like that, especially funny and cheerful ones.
Final verdict:
Favorite plays: "Red", "The Metal Children" and "Fences"
Favorite actors: Christopher Walken and Denzel Washington
Billy Crudup in "The Metal Children"
Viola Davis and Denzel Washington in "Fences"
Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell in "A Behanding in Spokane"
Tony Goldwyn and Sean Hayes in "Promises, Promises"
Kristin Chenoweth, Dick Latessa and Sean Hayes in "Promises, Promises"
Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne in "Red"
Anthony LaPaglia, Tony Shalhoub and Justin Bartha in "Lend Me a Tenor"

The Tonys were last night. I haven't realized that "Fences" and "Red" were not in the same category. Both have won. Cool!
I am still a bit "overwhelmed" again what great [film] actors and performances I have seen on stage in just one week... or throughout the years in NYC or London (since I have become a big theater fan). I should make a list... to remember them...
