I don't think she or anyone in that position could have handled it any better than she did.

Ah, the Blu-ray arrived yesterday. It's really terrfic for a 35 year old film master, you can't do it any better. Its look is very film like not so extremely clean and 'digital' as a new movie. No noise, clean, not oversaturated colors, actually all parameters are quite evenly, the resolution isn't so surprizing. They kept its relative darkness, fantastic sound. I can't complain and for the price it was a bargain. Highly recommended. Oh, and Jodie in HD looks hmmm....

Re: Taxi Driver 1976
Taxi Driver will hit the big screens here in May. I have never seen it at the cinema theatre and i bet it will be quite an experience. I can't wait to see it in its full glory even though i prefer the originals kept originals. Remastered and all ....I don't know...The quality is probably impeccable but it takes it away from the original crackling old videotape. Yes Im ancient in my tastes and im not so up to date with technology.

I know what you mean. It's different with this restoration it does not look remastered to death. Sony put a huge effort (and money btw) in making it right. This masterpiece probably didn't even look that good in theatres back then. I envy you for watching it on the big screen.

To name only one of the more evident, >>a real life prostitute who we see walking alongside her in the film<< I don't doubt the author knows very well who we see when with whom for five seconds in the movie. But it remains unclear why he wants us to think that Billie Perkins was a real streetwalker too.

Re: Taxi Driver 1976
I saw it today in a very quiet cinema. I did not notice anything about the remastering version, but the sound was perfect and there were background noises so clear that i never noticed before on tv or vhs. The soundtrack is fantastic and the image was a bit grainy at the beginning but then it looked clear and perfect! Excellent.

Re: Taxi Driver 1976
There's nothing more annoying than too much digital noise reduction on a remaster. Sony was smart enough keeping the film grain to some degree. On the big screen I doubt you can tell whether you're watching film or digital data.

Re: Taxi Driver 1976
Honestly, this is probably one of the best things ever happened to an American cinema classic. I wish anyone would spend only 2 percent of that money for remastering some other JF milestone.
