    One Little Indian 1973

Post  Eugene on Tue Mar 02, 2010 8:22 am

    Jodie Foster's second Disney film
    One Little Indian
    June 1973

    Director: Bernard McEveety

Cast: James Garner (Clint Keyes), Vera Miles (Doris McIver), Pat Hingle (Capt. Stewart), Morgan Woodward (Sgt. Raines), John Doucette (Sgt. Waller), Clay O'Brien (Mark), Robert Pine (Lt. Cummins), Bruce Glover (Schrader), Ken Swofford (Pvt. Dixon), Jay Silverheels (Jimmy Wolf), Andrew Prine (Chaplain), Jodie Foster (Martha McIver)
James Garner plays Keyes, a deserter from the U.S. Cavalry, who "borrows" the camels while making his escape. Shortly afterwards, he meets Mark (Clay O'Brien), a white boy raised by Indians upon the death of his parents. He too slipped away from the cavalry after they rounded up his adopted family for relocation. He joins Keyes for a trip to Mexico. Along the way, they encounter widow Doris McIver (Vera Miles) and daughter Martha (Jodie Foster). All the while, the cavalry is hot on their trail....

Yeah... and good song. I sing this song the whole day. When I want to stop Jodie says "Let's do it again!"

    Tree you ever did see...

    This is my favorite part

And this is the cutest scene I´ve _ever_ seen with Jodie. Watch her smile and what she does with her tongue. This is so cute, I go all dewy honestly. Her play in this short sequence must be absolutely singular I think, I´ve never seen her doing it similar to this elsewhere. That´s what I mean with "she talks to us through her movies". Even acting super-pro, she can´t hide the _real fun_ she has.

I really hope you see what I see.

funny, but there´s a little difference between sticking out tongue and this nice unintentional lips-licking.

LOL Is this a test? Come on, that one is from COEF, with Eddie sitting at the table, eating and drinking and Jodie as the servant. No wonder she´s hungry!

    Again, not unintentional. 👅

    More of that!

PS. I´ve sent you a pm last friday...

James Garner, who was in this film - when he came out to do a brief tribute to Jodie during the Cinematheque Tribute to Jodie Foster, looked out over the crowd trying to find Jodie…. He finally said, "My goodness, couldn't they have set you up on top of a table or something?"

    fun

Yeah! Super-unintentional. I´ve done this myself as a kid when "precision working" so I know when I see it... Wink

A future part of my blog will be all about Jodies special trademark behaviors, something like in part 8. This is so funny. Always the same hand and even the position of every finger is exactly the same. In many of her early works there are already "Silence Of The Lambs moments" or "Contact moments" to notice. I´ve watched her films so many times I know her acting repertoire inside out I think. She is unbelievable perfect in her facial expressions or simply in the way she stands around in a scene. All these easy looking things in a movie are the most challenging for an actor. Jodie is real entertainment here. And what you get as a free add on is very nice described here:

    >> it seems to me that some people can project their thoughts through the Cinema Eye (the camera lens) much more powerfully than others. Is that Acting? I think it’s more a psychic phenomena than a learned craft. << (from http://www.filmforno.com/?p=1178)
